Assemble
the people-men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns-so they
can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the
words of this law. Their children, who
do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the Lord your God as long
as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess. Deuteronomy 31:12-13
I am at
half time of my life. I am where most men get to-the locker room of life. Half time is when a man puts the chalk on the
board and makes the proper adjustments needed to finish strong.
How can I
play out a better second half than the first?
What is my
best play?
What
adjustments do I need to make?
Who are my
greatest assets?
What are
my greatest strengths?
How can I
overcome fear to win?
Success in
the second half requires that a man sticks to a winning game plan as outlined
in the Word of God. Deuteronomy 31:1-30
are Moses’ last words to the people of Israel.
Moses spent 40 years in the desert after fleeing the Pharaoh’s wrath at
age 40. Forty years later he returned at
80 to lead Israel
to freedom. Now, at the ripe old age of 120 Moses is giving his final address.
Listen to
his final leadership lesson, “Their children,
who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the
Lord your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to
possess” (Deuteronomy 31:13).
One thing
a man must learn in the locker room is to learn. Adjustments are only helpful
to those willing to learn. Become a
student even if you are a teacher.
Leaders are learners.
Oh,
stubborn men, repent of your foolish pride and listen up.
Listen to
all, learn from some, and let the fear of the Lord wash away your pride. The older a man gets the easier it is to
slide into a rut. Do not be that man!
Hold to the passion of your youth. Stand
on the convictions that have got you to where you are now but be willing to
learn and grow and stretch!
