But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. Philippians 2:17
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. 2 Timothy 4:6
So I will very gladly spend for you everything I have and expend myself as well. If I love you more, will you love me less? 2 Corinthians 12:15
As a high school football player I rarely left the football field and was completely spent after every game but one game in particular stands out in my mind. During my junior season we played St. Joseph High School to a disappointing 0-20 loss but I was voted County Player of the week breaking the school record (that still stands) for having 20 unassisted tackles. After the game I walked slowly to the locker room and straight to the showers where I proceeded to vomit uncontrollably for five minutes.
Not knowing what to do the players got the coaches to monitor the situation and it was determined that the Gatorade in my system combined with an extreme effort caused my system to literally pour itself out on the shower floor.
Leave it all on the field. Lose it all in the shower.
A man’s life is a sacrificial offering for some greater, larger-than-life calling. Men, God has made a man bigger than he is. A man’s mission is to make a difference and to pour himself out on behalf of other.
“I am being poured out like a drink offering” (Philippians 2:17).
What are you pouring yourself into? What are you pouring out of yourself?
Leave it all on the field. Lose it all in the shower.
Do you pour enough to look like a player but not perform like a winner? Is your life a partial pouring out to God or are you committed? Commitment only flows through one valve. Commitment is not a drip of water or wide spray nozzle but a focused jet stream rushing out of a life passionate for Jesus. Far too many men surrender to the spray and not to the pouring.
Leave it all on the field.
