Friends,
My head is
spinning as I ponder the events happening with The Great Hunt for God. I am blown away at what God is doing. Since
last January we have written over 250 Field Guide entries defining manhood. The
GH4G blog has gone from zero to around 500 readers. We have well over 100
followers on Twitter. The Great Hunt for God now has several dozen financial
partners. With the help of our attorney the 501(c)(3) process is nearly
finished! Our financial partners can expect their 2011 giving statements within
the next few weeks.
The New
Year has kicked off just as fast. In December we began the process of launching
The Great Hunt for God in the Denver metro area. Pray for Glenn Morgan as he
works though this process. Two weeks ago I was invited to be the keynote
speaker at the Oregon Pacific Men’s Retreat in late September. I have also been
invited to be the keynote speaker at the Yamhill County College/Career Expo in
March. Furthermore, I continue to prepare to speak with Pro-Bowl quarterback
Jay Schroeder at the Mountain Men of God Conference in Tehachapi, California on
April 21.
God is
doing something special through The GH4G, but only time will reveal the kingdom
impact. The 2012 organizational theme for The Great Hunt is simply “Confront
the Mountain” inspired by Abraham Lincoln who once said, “ Impossibilities
vanish when a man and his God confront a mountain.” The mountain of what lies
in the coming months seems insurmountable; however, instead of cowering before
it we are confronting it.
Will you
please pray for Shanna and I in the coming months? Several major decisions will
need to be made and your prayers are highly coveted. One major obstacle is
moving forward on publishing The Great
Hunt for God: A Daily Field Guide
Defining Manhood. The goal is to have enough backing to self publish 100
copies by the end of the year. This is a grueling process that involves
finishing the entries, editing, printing, marketing cost and cover design just
to name a few. After meeting with a top
notch agent and former owner of a major publishing company it became clear that
I need to build a greater platform in order to have a publisher take a risk.
Instead we plan to build a platform as we go, breaking the rules by self
publishing.
All this to
say to all our partners, thank you! Thank you for partnering with The Great
Hunt for God through your prayers, finances, time, and words of encouragement.
You may never know how much it means to us.
Leading from the Back,
Jim Ramos
