Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes
being burned? Proverbs 6:27
Does
the title of today’s entry bother you? It should.
Years ago a man and
his wife insisted on meeting with me A.S.A..P..
Knowing this couple, their years in service, and love for the Lord, I
agreed to meet with them.
Instantly I knew
something big was going down. She looked
numb, pale, and with incredible poise he confessed, “Last week I was fired from
my job for looking at pornography on the work computer and masturbating.”
He shared about his
secret life of sin, and that he was thankful it was finally out in the open so he
could get help! He is like thousands of Christian men today hiding their dirty
little secrets.
Like so many men I too
battle the demon of lust as well, and protect myself with one of the many
online accountability resources offered today. A man is stupid if he does not
and is inviting problems.
“Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his
clothes (much more if it is in his lap) being
burned.”
Scoop! Did you catch that?
A man cannot avoid
women but he can avoid scooping the sin of lust into his lap. In Matthew 5:27-28 Jesus went so far as to
say that looking lustfully at a woman is a betrayal against his wife! Do not engage in a lap dance with lust.
A man cannot be
passive when it comes to lust. He must
go public, bring it into the light, and rid himself of any secrecy revolving
around the fires of lust.
