A Man: One Sound Rule

I am the vine; you re the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5

I just returned from my Southern Oregon muzzle loader hunt where my friend Ben and I took two nice bucks, Ben’s being his second and largest trophy of his life.

One afternoon we hunted down a long ridge still hunting along the way. As we worked our way through the timber I occasionally peered over the edge into the dark timber.  I noticed Ben staying back about ten or so yards making his own noise.

It was time to teach him the “one sound” rule.  I called him forward and said, “Always walk as close to me as possible and step when I step so that we look, and sound like one creature.”

Galatians 5:25 tells us to “keep in step with the spirit.”

I believe this is similar to what Jesus meant when he said, “If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 5:5)

A man must stay connected to his God.  A man must abide with such proximity to his God that to common men they appear as one (John 17:21). The man who walks as one with his God is the man who does not have a dark side.  The man who walks as one with his God does not have secrets.  The man who walks as one with his God will naturally live out the life and fruit which Christ demands (Galatians 5:22).
