A Man: Stuck

But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.  The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.  Luke 6:49

Every water fowler knows what it’s like to step in “ground without a foundation.”  I have never experienced a muddy platform more than hunting in Morro Bay.  Hunters learn to respect the Back Bay tides and how they can make life difficult.

As the tides recede, ducks fly from the estuary to the Back Bay where camouflaged hunters await.  Usually a hunter has about a one to two hour window to shoot on the out going tide before he finds himself high and dry, a victim of his selfishness.

Missing the tide means either waiting for hours until the tide begins to rise or wade through chest high mud, pick up the decoys, and push the boat to the nearest channel.

This is where the excitement truly begins.

God has lost a lot of once good men to the selfishness.  When a man builds his house on anything other than the Word of God he is building on “the ground without a foundation.”  A man must be careful to follow God’s Word, knowing it better than anyone else in his family, and walking in obedience.

If not, he is in danger of getting stuck in the mud somewhere between heaven and earth.  Build a substantial life. Build a life with a solid foundation. Build a life on the Word of God.
